How Do I Know Which Social Media Channel Is Best For Me?

What Platforms Everyone Should Use?

Any ASUCD organization with a social media account is expected to maintain at minimum an Instagram and Facebook account (these accounts should be linked to each other). Additionally, it is imperative that each organization keep their website up-to-date with accurate and relevant information. These were selected because they have the largest user base, incorporate free analytics reports, and publish their content in Google search results. 

For advice on maximizing the effectiveness of these social media platforms, we recommend reviewing the Instagram Best Practices and Facebook Best Practices section of the UC Davis Brand Communications Guide.

Before adding any additional social media platforms (such as X, LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, Tik Tok, etc.), please consider the following:

  • Will this new platform reach an audience that my current social media accounts do not?
  • Do I have the bandwidth to remain active and engaged in all associated social media accounts?
  • Can this new social media platform support at least 1,000 new followers?

Reminder: any new social media accounts must first be approved by Creative Media and the ASUCD Marketing Director.
